Easy Home Decor Ideas to Transform Any Room

Around the start of a new year, as well as making resolutions to change our bad habits, many of us also feel the need to do a little transformation of our home.

But it’s a time when cash is low and so too is our energy after all that partying. And that’s why we’ve listed below a selection of simple ways to change your home without breaking the bank.

Depending on how desperate you are for change just do one room, a couple or go the whole hog and totally transform the feeling of your interiors. Maybe even pace yourself and do a new room every couple of months? The beauty is there’s no schedule to have to stick to:

Boost for bathroom decor

Don’t bother going out and buying a whole new suite. For a startling new look to your bathroom how about changing just one thing ie the floor. The ‘little room’ in this home has been completely altered by painting the wooden floor boards a bright, cheery sky blue. We love it:

Give your hallway a high point

Splash out on some statement designer wallpaper for one side of the hallway. Actually this designer wallpaper from leading US wallpaper designer’s Thibault’s Biscayne collection would also look great in a bathroom, thanks to its sunny seaside theme of painted starfish and sea shells. It would work particularly well for a Hampton’s decor theme.

A lift to your living room

It may be the largest room in your home but that doesn’t mean you have to do a lot to change it. Instead you could just introduce some amazing textiles, such as bright and colourful cushions and throws for spring and summer. Alternatively, lovely warm furry textured versions to snuggle up to in autumn and winter as the following two images beautifully demonstrate:

Add kudos to your kitchen with new cabinets

The easiest – and definitely one of the most effective – easy ways to transform a kitchen is to change the doors of the units. That’s the doors – not the actual units themselves. And because that’s all you’re doing the cost will be extremely minimal compared to the effect it will have. Then again, why not just paint them in a different shade and use gloss for a bit of a shine if your existing doors are matt – or vice versa:

Beautify your bedroom with dramatic colours

Thanks to that long, tall window at the end of the bedroom pictured below, it could so easily have been a bright, cheery space. Instead, the home owners here, have opted for cozy and comforting with this deep teal paint, dark carpet and rich blue valance. They’ve balanced the dramatic dark shades with white and a large mirror above the bed. A room with atmosphere indeed and created using just dark paint and fabrics:

Add to any room by creating a statement wall

Statement walls in a room are so simple to create, yet so stand-out stunning. They are always utterly compelling to look at, despite the items collected. Many people create a statement wall using a series of different sized picture frames, mirrors or, in this case, dinner and side plates purchased cheaply from ebay. The glamour of a statement wall is that together it creates one large and captivating piece of art:

Of course, you could also use the above ideas if you happen to be moving in to a brand new home too. And why not send us the ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos? We’d love to see them…
